I use this saw for light commercial use and I really like the magnesium plate. It is more durable than the aluminum plate model. It's nice to have a general duty saw with a blade brake too. I have used several Hitachi saws and found them all to be well worth the money. This one is definitely better than the one they sell at Lowe's though.
