I bought this after reading a review of battery powered tools in Consumer Reports. This was the top rated 18v drill as well as the only circular saw that they recommended. I previously had a Skill brand circular saw and it did pretty well but this one is amazing. I recently had to replace the floor on a deck because of rotting. I used this saw all day on pressure treated 2X6 lumber. Not only did it cut like butter, but I had to rip a 16 ft piece at the end of the day and it performed well.
I had not used Hitachi because of the weird look previously but with Consumer Reports recommendation and my experience, I give it two thumbs up.
Oh yes, it works great if you are left handed as I am. It has a safety button that can be depressed using either hand.
