Hitachi UU610CZ 12-foot Miter Saw Stand Immediately

I bought this stand only because it was a Hitachi and was lighter than some others. Once assembled and the miter saw was mounted did I realize what a
mistake I made. This stand is Very unstable, do the point that sometimes you think it's tipping over. I've since replaced it with the ridgid stand from HD and its like night and day. Their stand is rock solid and a true performer but it is heavy. I may add that the ridgid stand is much cheaper too.

Hitachi SV13YB 2 Amp 5-Inch Random Orbit Sander with Cloth Dust Bag Buy Now

I have read other reviews and have not had any problems controlling this sander. Weak people need not work with power tools to begin with, it is unsafe. I have found that if you use "cheap" disks that they are more prone to tear and therefore will rip your pad, beware. Gator disks are one brand that will fail you. Yes it can be very aggressive, but that is why they make different grits of disks! The Hitachi really whacks the Porter Cable and the Dewalt in my book! It is a very comfortable tool. Great orbital sander if you know what you are doing.Get more detail about Hitachi SV13YB 2 Amp 5-Inch Random Orbit Sander with Cloth Dust Bag.

Hitachi DV20VB2 3/4-Inch Hammer Drill Decide Now

Pros: Lightweight, good power, 2-mode, good case, speed-control dial

Cons: WAY less speed and power in reverse

Notes: If you see this model listed as a 3/4" hammer drill, it's the same drill. 3/4" is the concrete capacity, but the chuck is 1/2". Amazon has this drill double-listed here.

I purchased this drill reconditioned, in a like-new condition, but with 1-yr warranty.

One nice feature is the speed-control dial on the trigger. The trigger is pretty easy to control, speed-wise, but it's nice to have a speed limiter when you want to keep a slower speed for more than just a short time. A drill without one of these would have a rather limited lock-on function.

Two-modes is nice to get a little more control over torque and speed.

Reverse: It's nice that it has a reverse, and you can use it for some projects, but not if you require much reverse power. The speed and power in reverse are severely reduced. In reverse, even in high-torque mode, I can hold the drill from spinning by simply grasping the chuck firmly. The lock-on mode is not available in reverse, which is probably a good thing. Of course, as with most hammer drills, you mustn't hammer in reverse.

If you need a similar hammer drill, but with equal power in reverse, consider the Bosch 1199VSRK, double-listed here, too. It's a pound heavier, but it looks like it has good reviews and specs. It's Swiss made. If I had my purchase to do over again, I might have spent the extra $$ to get it instead. (Search for 1199VSR if you don't need the case.)

Handle: At first I didn't like the handle design, but it's growing on me, and I can see why they made it the way they did. It's a little longer than some handles, and is offset and reversible. It has a plastic collar with notches that fits the drill at 45-degree angles. At first I saw that as a limitation, but it's adjustable enough, and the grooves help you to get a good secure fit without having to wrench it on really tight, whereas a metal handle without the big grooves could slip and chew up the drill casing and/or your workpiece, but this plastic one isn't going anywhere, and it also won't slip out of position while you're loosening it to slide in the depth stop rod.

Rod: hexagonal, plastic, 25cm long, cm/mm markings. The round kind with the bent end might be nicer, since you can position the tip as close as you want to the drill bit, but this should work okay. Being lightweight plastic, it's not likely to slide out of place while loosening the handle to move it, and it won't mar a painted surface like a metal rod might.

Power cord: about 8-ft long (nice length, not too long or too short). 2-prong polarized plug. 18-AWG, well insulated, but supple. I think the contour of the back is supposed to be for wrapping the cord, but if you keep it in the case, you won't use it that way.

Chuck key: Good one, mounted to the cord on an adjustable plastic strap. I'll have to wait to see how convenient and durable that is. The key has a thumb extension, so the strap doesn't have to hug the key like the rubber ones do, so you can turn it easier - that's nice.

Forward/reverse switch: Push-through design. I like that way better than the kind with the little lever above the trigger. Just seems more substantial and less likely to get stuck, as I've seen on the others.

Drill/hammer: The switch feels a little loose/cheap, but it works fine, and it properly disengages the hammer mode, unlike some older hammer drills I've seen that still have some vibration in the drill-only mode.

Case: This is a good professional quality case, not a cheap blow-molded one, but still lightweight. Solid plastic with ribs for reinforcement. Hinges have steel pins. Handle folds down. Latches are plastic, but quality. It can be pad-locked. It has one main roomy compartment for the drill on the right, and a 2.2" wide bin on the right for accessories. You could probably modify the reinforcement ribbings to hold bits, etc., if you're feeling creative. The drill fits the case with the handle (and rod) on it in the position I plan to use it most of the time. You can't put it in w/ a drill bit in the chuck unless it's really short or you modify the case. Case is roughly 17x13x4.

To be picky about truth in advertising, this drill is not 4.9 lbs. Even if you exclude the weight of the handle, chuck key, and power cord, it's still 5.1 lbs. measured on an accurate scale. But it is still the lightest 8+ amp hammer drill I found. Total weight in case with handle and rod: 9.7 lbs.

Drill is made in Ireland. Chuck is German. This is my first Hitachi power tool, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm pretty happy. I just wish it had more reverse power.Get more detail about Hitachi DV20VB2 3/4-Inch Hammer Drill.

Lowest Price Hitachi DS18DL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 1/2-Inch Cordless Driver Drill

I bought this drill kit as at the time it was a lot less money and one of the few lithium ion drills available. It performs well in general and has good power and the batteries hold up well and recharge fairly quickly. It is also lighter in weight than similar cordless drills in its power range - like the new Milwaukee M series 2611 model which I also own and use. I found though that with drill bits smaller than 1/4" that they would slip in the chuck and end up embedded in the wood I was drilling. I have two Milwaukee cordless drills and a Makita cordless and all have keyless chucks that hold even the smallest twist drills when I am boring into any material.

The other aspect of the drill I don't like is its not having a LED light. I have a Makita and a Milwaukee cordless drills and they both have LED lights. When I first bought the Makita I though of the LED light as a nice to have feature. But after it using it on a deck project that went into the early evening I found the LED to make all the difference in the world. I used the drill as my work light to illuminate the screw heads and keep right on working. I have since found the light to be very helpful when doing work in attics and crawl spaces or even inside cabinets where it is not easy to hold a light with the other hand or to even use a headlamp. The LED light is something that should be incorporated into every cordless drill and I will never again consider buying a drill without one.Get more detail about Hitachi DS18DL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 1/2-Inch Cordless Driver Drill.

I bought this because I already own two other Hitachi 14.4V cordless drills and the batteries are all compatible. This driver provides the power for the jobs that are beyond the regular cordless drill. Seems to have plenty of power. Order Hitachi WH18DL 18-volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact Driver

Hitachi WH18DL 18-volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact Driver
Just finished screwing a wooden storage shed together using the Hitachi WH18DL Impact Driver. What a great tool! It drove lag bolts and all different length deck screws with no loss of power. My son and I agree that it was actually easier to screw the shed together than nail it.

Right off the bat, I had to screw the 2x6 floor joists to the side 2x6 using 5/16" x 4" lag bolts. Not having an adapter to use a socket over the bolt heads, I screwed about 10 screws in by hand using a ratchet. What a chore that was. Fortunately it was the end of the day so I stopped but my wrist was a bit sore. The next morning I bought an adapter that allows using standard 3/8" sockets with this impact driver. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Driving the rest of the lag bolts was fast and powerful with no strain. Saved my wrist for sure! Buy a 3/8" socket adapter as soon as you buy this impact driver!

One tip I found regarding using an impact driver while building the shed. Be sure to have some Irwin quick clamps or similar handy. We clamped 2x4 framing pieces to hold them tightly together before driving the screws. This held the pieces exactly where we wanted them and unlike nailing where the piece being nailed or the back piece needs support, driving the screws was so fast and easy.

The first battery was usually discharged by about 2 pm and the second battery covered the rest of the day. But even with heavier use, it takes about 30 minutes to recharge a battery so two batteries can keep you going. The WH18DL is a terrific impact driver.

Hitachi KC18DFL 18-Volt Lithium Ion Drill/Impact Combo Kit

You get what you pay for, and that's what you get here. A pretty good drill combo for the price. If you use a drill for a living, I'd look at a more expensive (and most likely better) combo.

The battery didn't last long with auger bits going through joists for some wiring. I'd give it 3 stars for heavy duty jobs. For screws and regular drill bits, I'd give it 5 stars. I'm not sure how long the battery life is for basic screwing because I haven't had any big jobs come up. I guess I'll find out when I get around to drywalling my garage.

The impact driver is AMAZING! Usually when I drive screws into old wood, I have to get a lot of leverage and put a ton of pressure behind the drill, and it still strips the screw a little. But with the impact driver, I can be stretched out in hard to reach areas, and the screws go in with little effort.

If you are looking at a combo pack or are wondering why do I need 2 drills, beleive me, they will come in handy.

They are also fairly compact which helps with the weight and the getting into tight spaces.

A trade-off of power for convenience. If that's ok with you then go for it.

One other thing. In researching Lithium Ion batteries, I found that they have a shelf life. In other words, the cells start dying immediately (anywhere from 5-20% per year I think, depending how they are used and stored). This combo is probably on close-out and was probably manufactured at least 2 or 3 years ago. Something to keep in mind. Wikipedia lithium-ion for some good research.Get more detail about Hitachi KC18DFL 18-Volt Lithium Ion Drill/Impact Combo Kit.

Hitachi SB10YI 4- by 8-Inch Belt Disc Sander with Dust Collection Immediately

I bought the Hitachi SB10Y to replace the Delta I had that failed after only about 2 years of intermittent light service. The Hitachi runs smoother and seems to have more power than the Delta. I expect that it will last longer too. The Delta uses a plastic pully that cant handle the tork. I would have repaired it but then I read that some people were having to replace the motor as well. So the Delta goes on the trash pile the next time the brush truck is coming through. And yes the plastic miter looks kind of cheap but it works well enough to give me accurate enough miters to make picture frames. So long live my Hitachi SB10Y and by by piece of junk Delta.Get more detail about Hitachi SB10YI 4- by 8-Inch Belt Disc Sander with Dust Collection.

Hitachi C12FCH 15 Amp 12-Inch Compound Miter Saw with Laser Order Now

I am a contractor of 30 years and I had been using a old 10 inch Delta chop box when doing trim work. One day before starting a full house trim out including full wood floors and ceilings I decided to get a new chop box. I looked at all of them and settled on this one. I am now almost finished with this big job and I couldn't be happier with this saw. I have probably made a 1000 cuts. It came perfect right out of the box! I bought a 90 tooth blade thinking I would need it to make clean cuts but havn't taken it out of it's package yet! One thing I love about this 12 inch saw is being able to stand a 6 inch board against the fence to cut a notch out. I use to have to use the table saw and that took alot of extra time. I should have picked one of these up 20 years ago but didn't want to spend $700. Only drawback is having single bevel but I am use to it. I wish it was made is the USA too.Get more detail about Hitachi C12FCH 15 Amp 12-Inch Compound Miter Saw with Laser.

Hitachi CC14SF 14-Inch Portable Chop Saw Decide Now

This saw does the job for metal cutting but it is a little light in the base frame area and the rubber feet are rather light duty. Watch for them, they fall off fairly easy. I put some "Goop" on them to keep in place. Also arrived slightly damaged due to inadaquate packaging and the rough handling from UPS. This seems to be a popular theme with UPS as several other items they have delivered arrived damaged. It appears that perhaps they start throwing them out of the planes and/or trucks before they come to a complete halt??!! In all fairness , UPS is not the only one at fault. Companies [Hitachi, Jet, etc] need to wake up to the fact that you cannot send an item like a chop saw or a midi-lathe etc. in flimsy boxes with less than acceptable packing foam, and cardboard that is way too thin. Amazon should get on there case!Get more detail about Hitachi CC14SF 14-Inch Portable Chop Saw.

Hitachi 322881 EB1820L 18-Volt 2-Amp Hour NiCad Pod Style Battery Right now

I have both a 3.0 and a 2.0 amperage battery. I noticed over time that the 2.0 last half as long or less. I got it as a rebate and its basically a back up battery compared to the two that came with the purchase. I am in the market for the Li-Ion batteries because of the battery drain since I bought it. The drill or slash all cordless drills are very much a part of getting use to from my experience but I would recommend if you put in the money ( over $200 ) buy in terms of longevity. I have used mine periodically for the past two years ( dmv 18volt ) and now looking for a new purchase. Love the convience of the cordless but over time they fade. Get either a 3.0 ah or get ready to pay out for another battery. Thats why I am looking for a Li-Ion. Maybe they will last longer than the Ni types. Hopefully I find a review on the Li-Ions. Peace.Get more detail about Hitachi 322881 EB1820L 18-Volt 2-Amp Hour NiCad Pod Style Battery.

Lowest Price Hitachi G12SR3 4-1/2-Inch Angle Grinder

i bought this angle grinder while i was searching for a cheap, yet powerful, and reliable angle grinder. it came with a carrying case and five abrasive grinding wheels. I started it up, and it was smooth, and used it to cut through some 1/4 inch steel plate, and it hardy bogged down. So far, i have used it for probably a total of an hour, under very strenuous use, and occasionally i will start it up, and there will be a loss of power, and a burning smell from it. but if I let it cool down then restart it, it works great. I hope this grinder lasts me a long time. Get more detail about Hitachi G12SR3 4-1/2-Inch Angle Grinder.

Save Hitachi DV18DL 18-volt Lithium-Ion 1/2-inch Cordless Hammer Drill

This is the second Hitachi drill we have bought and overall it is a good value. It provides plenty of power and recharge times are better than average - not as fast as Makita but faster than with DeWalt and Milwaukee lithium-ion battery packs.

In operation it delivers plenty of power but the chuck is still not up to holding 1/8" or smaller drill bits which was a problem with our other Hitachi drill as well. For large drill bits or hole saw arbors the Hitachi chuck holds quite well.

The hammer action is average, no better or worse than the DeWalt and Milwaukee we have, but not in the same class as the Bosch or Hilti models. For someone needing a hammer drill for occasional use the Hitachi works fine. What is missing, as with most other hammer drills, is a depth rod to control the drilling depth. This should be a standard item on every hammer drill. For serious hammer drilling a cordless DeWalt 7/8" SDS drill or a corded Bosch hammer drill are better choices.

Unlike our other Hitachi, and our Milwaukee, Makita, and DeWalt cordless drill someone in Japan decided to use a separate power source for the LED light which is one of the dumber design decisions I can recall. LEDs usually work best off of 4.5 volts or more and here you have a 18 volt power pack available but instead the LED, which is consuming power in the milliwatt range, is provided with its own batteries to replace and if they leak and cause corrosion will take out the LED lights.

The tool is well balanced and the grip is very well designed to minimize vibration and fatigue. It does not look like your average cordless drill handle but the design works very well. Hitachi stands alone in not providing a picture of its drill with a belt clip and bit holder (combination unit that does both), but Hitachi actually includes this with the drill it sells. It does not need to be special ordered later as with Milwaukee and Makita for an extra $20.

Hitachi has a strange design for its battery chargers. Before a battery is inserted the charger flshes on and off at half second intervals. When the battery is charging there is a solid red display but when it is finished, instead of having the green LED light as one would expect, the red LED starts flashing at 1/2 second intervals again. When the green LED lights up it means that the batteries are too hot to be recharged. This may make perfect sense to the people at Hitachi, but why have a different charger interface than every other cordless tool manufacturer? I really don't want to have to read the manual to understand the charger display or have it different for every cordless tool I use. Thanks but no thanks!

The carry case from Hitachi is neither good nor bad. It has a different slide catch that works well whether the case is right side up or upside down - whoops! Can't begin to tell you how many times I opened the case the wrong side up before finally spray painting the top of the case. There is a small amount of space available for retracting screw bit holders though they are free to bounce around inside the case. This is where I wish all the drill companies would copy Bosch which provides compartments with lids in its cases for small parts.

Cheapest Hitachi DV14DL 14.4-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Hammer Drill

Read the reviews and the specs for this drill and , gullible as I can be somedays, purchased it. What a serious disappointment. As a semi-retired contractor I'm accustomed to owning tools that can get the job done. My drill/ driver collection has consisted of Porter-Cable 19.2 volt hammer drills for the past 10 years. I was beginning to feel the weight of the Porter Cable due to my Arthritis and believed this Hitachi would be a good replacement. NOT!!! Maximum run time on the batteries is less than 1 hour, charging time is longer than run time. The claim of torque is a fallacy. I can get more torque from a handheld screwdriver or a $29 B&D hobby drill. If you're interested in 'CUTE', this might be a good choice. However, if you're looking to make any productivity, look elsewhere (Porter Cable is a true workhorse, this doesn't even qualify as a pony).Get more detail about Hitachi DV14DL 14.4-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Hammer Drill.

Buying Bare-Tool Hitachi WH18DL 18-Volt Li-Ion Cordless Impact Driver (Tool Only, No Battery)

This is my fourth set of cordless tools. As a plumber who uses and bought the Hitachi 4 tool kit at Costco and then added the grinder and this impact driver to the kit separately. The impact driver is just as good as the other main brands like Makita & Dewalt. I even bought the cheaper Ryobi impact driver and it worked fine but the Hitachi is a bit tougher. I tighten 60lb. torque no-hub bands on cast-iron pipe and the power save feature which reduces the torque significantly gives just about the right torque without stripping out the band. Full power mode on the impact will on occasion strip these bands. My fellow plumbers with other brand impacts like
Dewalt and Makita strip bands from time to time because they have trouble guessing the torque exactly. The drill/driver hardly gets used by us plumbers anymore since the impact has come on the scene and the Hitachi is my favorite so far. The tools are more reasonably priced to me and Lithium-ion batteries work just fine. I won't buy Dewalt anymore because they are overpriced and don't even have a lithium-ion battery to my knowledge. They do have the best ni-cads though. Try the Hitachi and you won't be disappointed and it is very light too. Good luck.Get more detail about Bare-Tool Hitachi WH18DL 18-Volt Li-Ion Cordless Impact Driver (Tool Only, No Battery).

Buy Hitachi 19408 50-Foot 3/8-Inch Polyurethane Air Hose

Bought this after a cheaper PVC hose I bought from a big box store failed on first use... This is an excellent hose, much more flexible, higher quality construction... just remember it comes with 3/8 inch fittings. Highly recommended.Get more detail about Hitachi 19408 50-Foot 3/8-Inch Polyurethane Air Hose.

Purchase Hitachi NV65AH 2-1/2-Inch Coil Siding Nailer

I had to take this off my list because I need something that shoots three inch nails, plain and simple. Hitachi makes one, but its not on amazon. Up in wisconsin, we're sheathing and then adding 5/4 polystyrene, then tyvek, then 1/4 in of siding. It leaves a 2 1/2 in nail buried just shy of 3/4 of an inch into the framing. Working with the weight of cement siding, you'll want to have a bit more bite than that.Get more detail about Hitachi NV65AH 2-1/2-Inch Coil Siding Nailer.

Where To Buy Hitachi 18108 10-Inch 6 Tooth Fiber Cement Cutting Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor

I looked at all the big stores. Home depot, lowes and ace hardware. Not one of these stores carry Hardie blades. Which really surprises me considering how popular hardie is these days. Some carry them in the 7 1/4 but none carry a 10 inch blade.

I work with and for my dad's building business.I bought the blade along with some gauges and my dad could not believe the difference. He had purchased a blade from a building material supplier for $40 and it was a blade for cutting concrete. It worked but it cut through a lot slower and created a ton of dust. It was a diference of night and day. Before I left Milwaukee to move down to Texas I checked a well known store that carried a lot of things most dont. They told me they carried the Hitachi blades in a 10" but they cost $100. So far since this blade we have done 2 houses. Still cutting great and dad still raves about it. Now I need to order some jig saw blades since I cant seem to find them at any hardware stores as well. These hardware stores are missing out on sales. I just dont get it.Get more detail about Hitachi 18108 10-Inch 6 Tooth Fiber Cement Cutting Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor.

Hitachi UU610 Universal Miter Saw Stand

I bought this UU610 to work with a Hitachi C10FSH.
pros:
*pretty stable.
*good leg folding mechanism.
*work supports and stop are pretty good
minuses:
*IMO, doesn't really work with the C10FSH. You can't position the saw to balance it properly.
*this is really an erector set that looks like a miter saw stand when you're finished. Personally, I think it is stupid to have the customer spend a couple of hours doing what the factory could do in 5 minutes. This is compounded by the fact that the directions are awful, pictures, no words. It's not that the assembly is *hard* - it's not. It's that having to do this work is totally unnecessary and would add $10 to the price.

In the end, a pretty good universal saw stand, once you suffer through the assembly. I guess I assumed that Hitachi would design the stand to fit properly with Hitachi saws. Wrong. This problem can easily be fixed with a plywood adaptor, and I'll probably make one. I just expected more from Hitachi, especially for $240.Get more detail about Hitachi UU610 Universal Miter Saw Stand.

Bare-Tool Hitachi DV18DLP4 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 1/2-Inch Hammer Drill (Tool Only, No Battery) Review

I am an avid DIY'er and I now own three of these DV18DL Lithium-Ion drills. They have more than enough torque to handle most any job I throw at them. Just make sure you have a firm grip on the drill or it will torque around in a heartbeat.

The only problems I have encountered with this drill are with the chuck screw that holds the chuck in place is inadequate and I broken three of them while using a 1" Ship Auger bit to drill through a 8" log I ran into while digging post holes for a split rail fence. Fortunately I had bought the drill from L_o_w_e_s and they exchanged them without issue. The manager I talked to said that he had notified Hitachi of the problem but that they were not going to beef up the screw.

I ordered a number of chuck screws for various makes & models of 1/2" drills (including corded drills) and discovered that the Dewalt reverse thread screw #605256-01. It is just a bit longer that the Hitachi OEM screw and I haven't broken one since replacing it ^_^.

The second issue is with the tabs on the case that hold the battery in place. I accidentally dropped it 4' onto a concrete floor. It landed flat on the bottom of the battery. The battery was fine, but both of the tabs that hold the battery in place busted off. Luckily I have a Hitachi repair shop a mile from my home here in Belmont, MI and they replaced the case free of charge within a week. But as I said I now have three of these and four of the 3.0ah batteries.

The last Drill I purchased was the bare (DV18DLP4) drill from Timberline Tools in July 2009 and they timely shipped one to me ^_^.Get more detail about Bare-Tool Hitachi DV18DLP4 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 1/2-Inch Hammer Drill (Tool Only, No Battery).
