I received this saw and it operates very well. The included blade isn't the best but that can be replaced. The saw came pretty close to being in alignment but that can be adjusted. None of the accessory items that are supposed to come standard were in the box. The instruction manual, front angle lock, dust bag, standard clamp, and wrench kit were not included. I contacted Hitachi however and they sent all missing parts within the week. The only thing I wish is that I could have gotten a paper copy of the manual. I just don't have a computer in my shop that often. Absolutely the best tool for the money. I considered all brands, but I am glad I made the Hitachi choice. I had a dead white pine in my yard that was about 30 feet tall. With 1 battery I was able to cut it down to about a 7 foot stub. Unbelievable that such a small battery could deliver so much power.
I aslo own the Hammer Drill that came with reciprocating saw. This is a great tool as well.
Highly reccomend, you will not be sorry. I also own the Dewalt 36v hammerdrill and 7 1/4 circular saw. The saw is great but very heavy. I never used the drill because the Hitachi is good. The only negative is the Hitachi tool color and design look very junivelle, however they clearly make up for it with quality.

This router combination was quite inexpensive when I bought it approx 1.5 years ago (around $120). However, there are two major issues:
1) The plunge base is so stiff that I've given up using it. It slams in and out. So far, I have not been able to figure out how to make it work smoothly.
2) Even worse: The bit and collet have become permanently stuck in the router. I've done everything possible to remove it, short of directly hitting it with a hammer and likely damaging the router. I will continue using it till the bit wears out, and then take more extreme (and risky) measures. The collet/nut design does not work. The nut simply slips off, with only a little bit of torque, and the bit/collet stays on the router. Squeezing the bit between two pieces of wood, hammering a piece of wood onto it etc does not work (even though the bit was purposely not inserted all the way). Even grabbing the bottom of the bit with a wrench doesn't work. I even tried routing with the nut completely removed to see if the vibration would free the bit (dangerous, I know). No luck.

In short this is a nice low-price saw that is quite useful for smaller projects and short term usage. It is precise, light and has decent power for cutting through laminate or hard wood. I don't think it is the right tool if you are a power user and intend to use it daily for weeks or months.

If I could I would give it 3 and a half stars.

Pros:
- good price
- powerful engine
- precise with wide angle and acceptable bevel
- lightweight which is good if it has to be mobile
- laser (although scarcely visible in daylight)

Cons:
- comes with a poor saw blade
- poor work piece hold down
- pretty loud (but I guess that is the case with all of them)
- when the bevel is set to the max (45 degree) the blade cuts into the plastic at the bottom
- (the maximum cut length it something around 5''-6'')

I bought this saw for a laminate flooring project and used it in the last weeks intensively including cutting non 90 degree angles and miter cuts for baseboards.

The saw fulfilled the task more or less.
Even when the saw blade gets weak the powerful engine still gets the job done. The saw can be adjusted up to an angles of 50 degree in both directions so that you can cut boards precisely even when the walls have strong angles. It is also very precise and if you get a good saw blade it cuts the laminate boards without damaging the surface at all. I would have liked to have a little bit more flexibility with the bevel. When doing miter cuts for sharp angled corners the 45 degrees will not be sufficient and you have to use the coping saw.

Furthermore the maximum cut length is about 5''-6''. If you have very wide laminate boards of more than 10'' width (which I luckily did not have) the saw is probably useless. Lengthwise cuts are impossible anyway. I do not count this as a weakness in this product review because I could have forseen this problem (after all this is a 10'' saw).

The saw is pretty loud and I strongly suggest to use ear plugs unless you are keen on damaging your hearing (I had a ringing in my ears for a night). I do not know if more expensive tools produce less noise.

It also produces an enormous amount of dirt (the dirt bag is more or less useless) but I would not count this as a weakness because I doubt that any tool will do better. I strongly recommend to cut outdoors or the garage and to use a breathing mask and completely closed protection glasses (the type that look similar to skiing goggles).

Recommendations:

Would I recommend the saw in general?
Probably yes because of the good performance considering the price. However I am not sure if the saw is precise enough for carpentry work.

Would I recommend the saw for a wood floor/ laminate floor project?
Probably not because the 10'' blade does not offer sufficient range. At least I would opt for a sliding saw. But then again you have to invest more money.

I have this saw and an Hitachi C12FDH. Both saws are awesome. Had the C12 first, but then realized I needed something to cut wider boards. Flipping the boards over on the C12 didn't do it for me. Bought this saw to make a platform for my shed with planks. This saw is hands down awesome. It slides like butter and the vertical handle, while a little awkward for pure chop saw cuts, makes the sliding motion even smoother. The included blade is not bad. But you will want a better blade for more precision cuts. That's a wash with other saws anyway since they all seem to come with not so great blades that you're better off replacing.

I was tempted to buy a cheaper saw, thinking that I might not use this often. I didn't feel comfortable with those, but that's not to say others wouldn't mind them. I do, however, know that this saw was definitely worth the money for me. I also used it to build a bookshelf (about 11 inch wide boards). Happy to say the bookshelf is even, sturdy, and perfectly level because of the precision of this instrument (and I mean instrument, not just tool). I've built other things with it, but I'm sure you get the picture. If you have the cash, buy it. You will NOT regret it.

By the way, I kept the C12 because the C10, being a 10 inch saw, has difficulty with 4 X 4 posts. If you need something for those posts, you may be able to use this saw if you raise it on the tabletop with a piece of wood. But I didn't try that so I can't deduct stars for that. Bought this on Amazon for a simple apartment baseboard project. It did a fine job of cutting 90/45-degree angles. This is my first saw, and at the price I paid, it is cheaper to own than to rent a miter saw from a place like Home Depot. I am definitely not as skilled with wood-working as others out there but I had no trouble working with this saw. I didn't even use all the attachments that it came with. At some point, I will read the instruction booklet and figure out how to use those. There are a some notable drawbacks of this model, however. First, the dust bag is pretty much useless. During my several hours of cutting, the bag collected almost nothing. Second, there is no laser guide, so there is some guesswork involved at least initially. I don't understand why a tool-maker like Hitachi can't put an imprint by the cutting edge which clearly indicates exactly where the saw will make the cut. I also noted that tiny slivers of the plastic piece (which is part of the saw) upon which you place the wood got sliced off during cutting. Thought that was odd since this indicates some kind of misalignment in the cutting assembly. Luckily, this does not interfere with cutting accuracy. All in all, this is an okay tool and I look forward to using it in future projects.
